What
is the South Carolina Bowhunters Association?
The
South Carolina Bowhunter Association (SCBA) is an organization
dedicated to the preservation and promotion of bowhunting in our
State. Our responsibility is to you, the bowhunters of South
Carolina. In service of that responsibility, our primary
function is to monitor legislative activities and to work with elected
and appointed leaders within our state government and agencies to
ensure that the privilege to bowhunt is not abridged and that the
sport of bowhunting continues to be available to you, your children
and their children after them.
While
the SCBA is not constitutionally affiliated with any other
organization, we support and endorse program that promote legal and
ethical bowhunting and resource conservation. The
SCBA is a charter sponsor of the South Carolina Sportsmens Coalition,
and has made donations to Hunters for the Hungry, the Wildlife
Legislative Fund of America, Operation Game Thief, and other similar
organizations and programs.
The
SCBA places a strong emphasis on archery and bowhunting education.
We provide the NBEF certified instructors for the South Carolina
Department of Natural Resources Bowhunter Eductation program. We
support various youth archery and outdoor activities with the
goal of exposing as many young people as possible to the thrill of
archery and bowhunting. These have included programs at the
South Carolina Sportsmans Classic, SCDNR Make One - Take One
program, BSA programs, NASP programs and local community events.
Another
very important part of the SCBA mission is to provide opportunities to
gather, fellowship and enjoy our wonderful sport together with others
who love bowhunting. In addition to SCBA sponsored 3D
tournaments in February and May of each year, the organization
arranges several bowhunting and bowfishing opportunities for
it's members.
